About Dermaplaning
If you are looking for an alternative to applying chemicals or acids on your face, Setty Plastics & Aesthetic can provide you with a deep exfoliation with dermaplaning. The procedure is a wonderful substitution for women who are pregnant or nursing, when the use of chemicals is not recommended. This technique involves the use of a medical-grade blade with delicate, feathering strokes across the skin to remove fine vellus hair, also known as peach fuzz, along with some damaged skin cells allowing for a deep exfoliation. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Naveen Setty and his team of certified medical aestheticians are excited and ready to provide dermaplaning treatments in three locations at the McKinney, and Dallas, TX facilities.
Dermaplaning Reviews
Ideal Candidates
Dermablading and dermaplaning are safe and effective solutions for many skin types. Patients with severe acne may not be suited for this procedure. Ideal candidates for this procedure:
- Are searching for something other than microdermabrasion and chemical peels
- Suffer from rosacea or hyperpigmentation
- Have an abundance of fine facial hair
- Have skin that is highly sensitive
- Have allergy-prone skin
- Have uneven skin tone that is dry and rough
It is our goal to give all our patients the opportunity to have glowing, smooth skin with a combination of our treatments, products, and other services. Dermaplaning is a versatile treatment for patients of all skin types.
Procedure Technique
Dermaplaning procedures are typically completed on an outpatient basis in our office. While you relax in our treatment room, a topical anesthetic or numbing cream will be smoothed over the skin that will be treated. Next the skin will be cleaned and the dermaplaning will begin with a gentle scraping of the skin's surface with a blade. The aesthetician will skim the treatment area repeatedly until the face has been entirely treated. The amount of time needed will depend upon whether small portion or the full face will be treated. At a consultation beforehand, Dr. Setty will explain the process of the dermaplaning procedure to you.
What to Expect
In the hours following your dermaplaning session, you can expect your face to be a bit red and swollen. This is a normal reaction that will fade in the coming days. It's not uncommon for some scabbing to occur as the skin heals. However, it's important not to scratch them — you should let the scabs heal on their own. Patients will need to avoid prolonged sun exposure as your face will be sensitive in the days and weeks following your procedure. You can expect results soon after, as dermaplaning produces softer, smoother skin instantaneously. To help you care for your rejuvenated skin, our team will outline an improved skincare regimen with you, including the highly recommended, daily application of sunscreen.
