What is BOTOX?
BOTOX, derived from a purified strain of type A botulinum toxin, is a neuromodulator that corrects the appearance of dynamic lines (wrinkles formed while the face is in motion). It works by temporarily halting the nerve signals to the brain that tell the tiny facial muscles to contract and thus form creases. Once the muscles have been incapacitated, the skin smooths out, telegraphing a more youthful, relaxed facial expression. BOTOX works to combat glabellar lines and crow’s feet, among many other cosmetic and medical applications.
